Most of us won't be remembered beyond a few generations. What kind of long-lasting impact do we want to have on the world, and is it optional to do so?
I love this question. When I was younger I was certain that fame was the only way to leave a marker on the world. Creating a piece of art or a cultural/political contribution that would live on after I was gone. Now, I'm much more focused on how I make people feel and the relationships that I build. What meaningful connections can I create that people will remember?
I'd venture the way you're focused on creating meaningful connections probably leads to more of the legacy-making work and is a way better process than simply forcing a legacy. Like, we could create pieces of culture/art that endure well after we pass on the internet/media landscape but if people don't like us enough to seek it out, it will be forgotten, even if it's really good.
Ahh, hii, Sumedha!! Thank you for reading & commenting — and you're absolutely right. Loving people & making them happy is a legacy more of us should strive for. Would make this world a better, more bear-able place.
