I really like the graph showing what success actually looks like. A lot of us put off all of the other things except for monetary success thinking that we have to work hard while we still can and stack our coin. I think this is a consequence of not having a good social security system in the US. Mental health really only started becoming important recently, and it is a consequence of evolution. We have a lot of our basic needs satisfied, so of course we are going to be more concerned with transcending those and taking care of what's within.
I'm really glad a mental health reckoning is on the cards because it's overdue and a half. And you're right, I burned myself out when I began freelancing trying to make that $$$ and now that I have a better handle on things, both money and rest come better to me. In a previous edition on toxic productivity, I linked to this one article which basically said that the best way to be productive is to be rich and I've never really forgotten that.
Great perspective Nia - the pursuit of 'productivity' misses the point. It's about spending our time on what actually matters in the first place and figuring out how to improve as we go. That's me subscribed!
second off are we the same person?? I suffer from Productivity Disease too, have tried and still sorta use Notion and all the other things you mentioned. the 4000 hrs book rocked but i forgot what i learned and now am back in the hampster wheel. I've even been using, wait for it, Roam Research :( But that one I actually love lol
Hahahaha I oscillate between loving and hating productivity tools and all of those things. 4000 hours is pretty neat, I'm making my way through it slowly though (or I'll just read about time management and forget to do any of it).
Thanks for reading and glad I could share your newsletter w my readers!
